50-60 Hz Frequency Conversion
Frequency Conversion for manufacturers in foreign countries or military-related organizations
Horlick 60SC, 60RG and 60SH Model motor generator sets provide 50-60 Hz frequency conversion for manufacturers or military-related organizations operating in countries where the power is supplied at 50 Hz. There are a few elementary differences between these units which includes the motor design, mechanical drive system, output frequency tolerance and power capacity. While all three models can be used in virtually any 50-60 Hz application, they each have unique characteristics which make them best suited for specific applications.
60SC Model Motor Generator
Belt-Driven, 5 to 250 KVA
Horlick 60SC Model motor generators represent our most economical 50-60 Hz package. They are most commonly used by foreign manufacturers or by US-based companies who have overseas production facilities. These units utilize a 4-pole, 1500 RPM, induction motor to drive a 4-pole, 1800 RPM synchronous generator through a V-belt drive system. The output frequency is 60 Hz (+/-1.5%) due to slip of the induction motor. Horlick 60SC Model units are offered in capacities ranging from 5 to 250 KVA.
60RG Model Motor Generator
Reduction Gear, 250 to 1000 KVA
For standard applications requiring a power capacity greater than 250 KVA, Horlick 60RG motor generators are recommended. These systems utilize a 4-pole, 1500 RPM, induction motor to drive a 4-pole, 1800 RPM synchronous generator through a reduction gear drive system. The output frequency is 60 Hz (+/-0.5%) due to slip of the induction motor. Horlick 60RG Model units are offered in capacities ranging from 250 to 1000 KVA.
60SH Model Motor Generator
For Specialized Military or Industrial Applications
Horlick 60SH Model motor generator sets are reserved for specialized applications. These units utilize a design in which a 10-pole, synchronous motor and a 12-pole, synchronous generator are placed on a shaft that rotates at 600 RPM. The output frequency of this unit is precisely 60 Hz given an accurate 50 Hz input. 60SH Model systems are inherently quiet and they are offered in capacities ranging from 25 to 2000 KVA. They are typically only deployed in military applications with harsh environmental conditions or in industrial applications with very large power requirements. They are not typically utilized in industrial facilities requiring less than 250 KVA of power.
