The Horlick Company Announces Information on Shipments of Motor-Generator Sets in the Second Quarter of 2018

The Motor-Generators will be used for frequency conversion including 60-50 Hz, 60-400 Hz, and for 60-60 Hz line conditioning

Randolph, MA, September 6, 2018 – The Horlick Company, a manufacturer of motor-generator sets for both frequency conversion and load-isolation is announcing information regarding shipments it has made in the second quarter.  The MG sets were shipped throughout the U.S. and they are intended to be used for a variety of applications to include 60-50 Hz and 60-400 Hz frequency conversion, along with 60-60 Hz line conditioning.

The motor-generators will be used in manufacturing industries such as baking and glass manufacturing, while one of the shipments will be used to provide a clean source of power in a military application.  A majority of the motor-generator sets shipped this quarter will be used to power 50 Hz equipment brought over from Europe to run on 60 Hz power here in the U.S.

The Horlick Company manufactures motor-generator sets to be used for both frequency conversion and load-isolation.  Given either a 50 or 60 Hz input, Horlick motor-generator sets can be designed to deliver an output frequency of 50, 60, or 400 Hz.

The details of a few of our shipments are as follows:

  • The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) in China Lake, CA took delivery on four Model 60FC-303 motor-generator sets. Horlick 60FC model MG sets are used as line conditioners to provide a clean source of 60 Hz power.  The 37.5 KVA machines were placed in NEMA 3R, weather-resistant enclosures.
  • A Model 50SC-603 motor-generator set was shipped to Specialty Bakery in Tulsa, OK. Specialty Bakery specializes in the production of high quality buns, rolls and breads.  The 60-50 Hz motor-generator set will be used to power a 50 Hz production line brought over from Slovakia.
  • General Glass in Secaucus, NJ purchased a Model 50SC-603 motor-generator set. Their motor-generator will also be used to power 50 Hz production equipment brought in from Europe.  GGI was originally unsure of their power requirements and if in fact the motor-generator set was the optimal solution.  As a result, they rented a system to prove out the application prior to ultimately making the decision to implement the Horlick motor-generator set as their long-term solution.
  • A Model 400SC-251, 60-400 Hz, motor-generator was shipped to Peak Demand in Wilson, NC. Peak Demand supplies transmission, distribution, substation and OEM products to the utility industry.  In this application, the MG set will be used to provide a source of 480V, 1-phase, 400 Hz to test instrument transformers.  The custom motor-generator set was placed in a sound-reducing enclosure.
  • William R. Nash, Inc., a mechanical contractor in Miami, FL., purchased a Model 50SC-253 motor-generator set at the request of Billund Aquaculture Service from Denmark. Billund is working on a large aquaculture project in South Florida and they specified the 31.3 KVA motor-generator to power 50 Hz equipment they were bringing into the U.S.  The MG set was placed in a weather-resistant enclosure so that it could be located outdoors.
